Thank Allah it's Friday

Assalamualaikum,

Yes it is that the time of the week again - the time we greet Friday.

Allah ta'ala has picked some days in a year to be better than others. He also has picked some days in a week to be better than other days. Friday no doubt is a special day, selected by Allah ta'ala to be special as a mercy to all of us.

It is narrated in Sahih Muslim:

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On it Adam was created and on it he was admitted to the Garden and on it he was expelled from it."

So how do we treat the coming of this special day? Do we value our weekends' rest more? Are we as excited about the coming of Friday? Don’t let Friday just be the day before the weekend.

It is also narrated:
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The five prayers and from one Jumu'a to another and one Ramadan to another expiate what is between them if major sins are avoided." [Muslim]

When Allah ta'ala promises Friday to be a day of forgiveness, we can't just sit down and allow it to pass by us. We must grab the opportunity to seek for His forgiveness for all our heedlessness and shortcomings. It's our moment to make up for the week and rejuvenate our Imaan so that we can be better servants.

Friday is upon us and let's make this Friday our best Friday yet. This process of self development is important so that we improve every Friday. With this cycle inshaAllah our steady improvement will make our last days of our lives our best days.

So what can we do?

  1. Firstly make sure you read Surah Al-Kahfi and reflect on it.
  2. Wake up for tahajud even for two rakaats.
  3. Send your peace and blessings upon our prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)
  4. Ask for forgiveness from Allah taala
  5. Take your morning sunnah bath.
Lastly it is narrated:

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Anyone who does ghusl on the day of Jumu'a, the same as for janaba, and then goes in the first part of the time, it is as if he has sacrificed a camel. If he goes in the second part of the time, it is as if he has sacrificed a cow. If he goes in the third part of the time, it is as if he has sacrificed a horned ram. If he goes in the fourth part of the time, it is as if he has sacrificed a hen. If he goes in the fifth part of the time, it is as if he has sacrificed an egg. When the Imam comes out, the angels settle down to listen to the reminder." [Agreed upon]

So in other words the earlier you get to the mosque, the angels will be waiting to write down your name for a bigger reward. Let’s apply this beautiful Sunnah. Don’t reach the mosque for Friday prayers just before the khatib starts the khutbah. Be excited about grabbing the abundant rewards of a Friday. Get to the mosque early. In fact try to be the first person to be at the mosque to get the highest reward.

Have a great Friday everyone.
